Omar Minaya's reign as GM

Think of this....It's late 2004 and after a dreadful three years ownership finally changes the manager and general manager. Ok great. Omar Minaya is brought in along with Willie Randolph. The 2005 team improves over what they were for the three years prior. The 2005 mets finished in third place a few games over .500. The fans took as a positive because realistically it was. Next comes 2006 and with an offseason headlined with big acquisitions, Omar Minaya's club shines in the NL and reaches the NLCS and came within one win of the world series. Omar Minaya was a genius we all thought, a God among baseball GMs. In two years we were a winner again. 2007 rolls around this team starts off hot but Omar's moves begin to back fire. The lack of another starting pitcher, lack of another bullpen arm, and the age of the players on this club take their took and a september collapse for the ages is made by our lovely New York Mets. After an offseason of acquiring Johan Santana to prevent that from happening, but not changing anything else about the team, the same results follow. Johan could not do it himself and Omar's lack of free agent signing to improve other areas caused a SECOND straight collapse. Then 2009...injuries, injuries, injuries. Minaya had a great team this year he was back on the right track, BUT, his handeling of the injuries and off the field press conferences further embarassed an organization who needed to right the ship again. Then 2010, after acquiring 1 bat in Jason Bay and not improving anywhere else once again, the 2010 season was a lost one. Omar Minaya's reign had good, bad, and UGLY. And FINALLY it will be coming to an end.
